People of Courage

These people are honored because of their individual willingness to take a stand, regardless of their personal safety, in the face of giant evil. 

Dietrich Bonhoeffer (February 4, 1906 – April 9, 1945) German Lutheran pastor, theologian, anti-Nazi martyr.

Mother Teresa (26 August 1910 – 5 September 1997) For over 45 years, she ministered to the poor, sick, orphaned, and dying in the face of oppressive religions, cultures and government.

Irena Sendler (February 15, 1910 –  May 12, 2008)  Smuggled 2500 Jewish children out of the Warsaw Ghetto during occupation by Nazi Germany.  Tortured by Nazis for helping them escape certain death in The Holocaust.

Brigitte Gabriel (October 21, 1964-present), a Lebanese American journalist, author, and activist who opposes radical Islamic terrorism.

Chen Guangcheng (November 12, 1971-present) is a Chinese Christian civil rights activist who has been beaten & imprisoned for opposing China's one-child forced abortion policies.

Oskar Schindler (28 April 1908 – 9 October 1974) a German factory owner, who helped save over 1100 Jews in Austria-Hugary during the Holocaust of WWII.

Pastor Saeed Abedini (May 7th, 1980 - present) is an Iranian-American Christian pastor imprisoned in Iran's Evin Prison since September 2012. On January 27, 2013, he was sentenced to eight years in prison, for the "crime" of converting from Islam to Christianity.
