Tell Me Sweet Little Lies

Back in the 1980’s there was a popular Fleetwood Mac song with these lyrics:

Tell me lies
Tell me sweet little lies
Oh, no, no you can't disguise
Tell me lies
Tell me sweet little lies

Like the song implies, it seems today that Truth is not very popular.  In fact, I’m going to go so far as to say that lying has reached epidemic proportions in our culture and has garnered broad based acceptance as the norm.  Sadly we no longer EXPECT our politicians to tell us the truth.  There is a whole news program dedicated to “No Spin” which has enjoyed the #1 slot for over a decade by viewers hoping to find some truth.  Another news outlet claims “The Truth Lives Here”.  Let’s hope so.  Apparently, we at least recognize that we are being lied to.  Unfortunately, many Americans simply accept that most reporting and politics is biased and merely shrug their shoulders.  No journalistic professionalism or integrity required…Please apply here.  Just be sure to tickle our ears and keep sending our entitlement checks.

Abraham Lincoln is quoted as saying:
“You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time”
.
I'm sure President Lincoln wasn’t advocating lying.  However, he was making an important observation.  Most people will eventually realize when they are fed lies as a consistent diet.  Let’s just hope it is not too late.

Our current President is especially adept at “prevaricating”.  (Sounds so much nicer than “Lying” doesn’t it?)  His two autobiographical books “Dreams from My Father” and “The Audacity of Hope” have been found to be riddled with falsehoods and misrepresentations.  Now that we have had the opportunity to research these two literary works of “autobiographical fiction”, Americans should be highly concerned that the untruthful author currently occupies the highest office in our land.

However, we in America are no longer fond of the word “lying”.  It’s too “intolerant”.  Today, things are “50 Shades of Grey”.  Obama and his defenders use terms like “literary license”, “composite characters”, and “evolving”, to explain apparent inconsistencies in both his writings and his political views.

Here’s the problem with lying (let’s just call it what it is, shall we?) from a foundational Biblical perspective.  Holy Scripture says SATAN is the “Father of Lies”:

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
~John 8:44

Currently, there is another best-selling book at the top of the NY Times Bestsellers list entitled “The Communist”.  The author lays out a very convincing case that President Obama was mentored by an older Communist radical in his youth.  There are also speculations that this man may have actually been his real biological father.  Whether that is truthful or not has yet to be decisively determined.  One thing is for sure—President Obama has a radical “dream” for the remaking of the United States that he claims originated from his heritage.  This “hope and change” is only obscurely articulated in his books and is rife with Marxist, Communist and atheistic roots.

With all the confirmed multiple lies in his writings, this leaves us wondering…

Exactly which “Father” is Obama referring to in his title?

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
~1 John 1:8

“The Truth will set you free, but first it will make you miserable.”
~President James Garfield

Please join us in the Grassroots movement National Day of Repentance:

In honor of our Judeo-Christian heritage, Americans will pray and fast from Sunset on 9/25/12 through Nightfall on 9/26/12.  This will also kick off 40 days of prayer until the 11/6/2012 election.
