What's In a Name?

When I was a young child I loved digging around in the dirt.  When I am reminded by a family member of this childhood pastime, I am always surprised anew.  Today I have a major “yuck factor” regarding creepy crawly things—go figure.  In those early days, we had a slate patio in our backyard.  It was my fairly common routine to lift up the rocks and see all the slimy bugs hanging out just barely beneath the surface.  As soon as the critters sensed the sunlight, they would instantly wiggle and slither their way deeper into the dirt to avoid the light and detection.  As a child, I guess I really enjoyed the realization that there was so much more to my world than just the one-dimensional surface view.

Today I still like digging—but in the spiritual sense of the word.  I’ve always been fascinated by the hidden meanings in the Bible if you just have the patience to “dig” long enough.  Rarely is anything in the Bible “one-dimensional”.  Once you start understanding this concept, that the Bible is “prismatic” and so much more than a rote book of storytelling—it literally comes to life with meaning and application to everyday events.  Along these lines, there are many, many instances in the Bible where God changed someone’s name.  Now, I got to wondering…if God changed people’s names so often, names must be very important and meaningful in the scheme of things.   Here are just two of the more famous examples:

Old Testament:  Abram means “Exalted Father”.  God gave him a spiritual upgrade to Abraham—which means “father of many nations”.  So apparently, even his birth name gave a clue to his special purpose in life.  His encounter with God fulfilled his early promise.  Abraham is really Abram on steroids—if you will pardon my modern day connotation.

New Testament:  Saul means:  “responded” or “prayed for”.  If you are a student of the Bible, you know that Saul, a persecutor of the early Christian Church, was knocked off his “high horse” by Jesus appearing to him from heaven asking “Saul, Saul…why dost thou persecute me?”  Apparently, Saul responded by accepting Christ and was “prayed for” to regain his sight by Ananias.  Read Acts 9 for the full account.  (As a side note:  “gaining his sight” was both literal and figurative as he was filled with the understanding of the Holy Spirit after this prayer—the one True interpreter for all spiritual revelation).  After his conversion, Saul became known as “Paul” which means “small, humble”.  This small, humble man responded to God’s call and eventually wrote 2/3rds of our New Testament.  He can arguably be called the most influential person in the history of Christianity.
Once again we see someone whose birth name had a special meaning and, after an encounter with God, an even deeper meaning.
Since I came upon this revelation, I’ve been shocked and delightfully surprised many, many times at the correlation people have to their name.  I believe if you find your Godly purpose in life, your name literally “comes alive”.  On the dark side…I’ve found evil people also live “down” to their name as well.
As I was working on an upcoming blog for the history of Planned Parenthood, the founder’s name “Margaret Higgins Sanger” caught my eye.  As I love to study word roots, I immediately noticed that her last name has a Latin foundation.  Every good student of Latin knows “Sang” has a correlation to blood.  (This is where the word “Sanguine” comes from).  With a bloody beginning clue, I thus began my research with some trepidation.  Here is what her name literally means:
Margaret:  Margaret has a long and rich history.  It means “pearl” (so far sounds good, right?).  The pearl in history has been the symbol of “feminine wisdom” (hmmmm….).  Popularity of the name began with St. Margaret, a saint in the Catholic Church who was known as the “Patron of Expectant Mothers” (now there’s something interesting).  She was martyred in the 14th Century for practicing her faith (getting a bit creepy) and many accounts say she was executed while pregnant (getting VERY creepy).
Higgins:  Literally means “hard ruler”.  (Authors note:  By the way, name meanings are easy to look up in the many Internet search name/surname databases.  Feel free to check any of this data).
Sanger:  As mentioned, the Latin root meaning is “bloody”.

So…to put her name into some kind of a translated context—it means:
Bloody, hard ruler of Expectant Mothers based on human (not God's) reasoning.  (shudders).

Coincidence or Divine Knowledge? ...
                                                      Name it what you will.

**In an upcoming blog, we’ll “lift the rock” and shine the light on the maggots beneath the founding of Planned Parenthood.

Murder is OK--Relatively Speaking

I’ve often been accused of being a very dichotomous-minded person, philosophically speaking.  That is, I tend to see things as clearly on either side of the spectrum.  Nothing is “50 Shades of Grey” to me anymore.  Moral choices, once dissected, are either plainly wrong or obviously right.  We have loads of justifications that we throw in the mix, but that doesn’t change the bottom line.  Decisions grounded by a moral compass are not always perfect when decided by fallible mankind, but they are definitely more just.

One of the many “bad fruits” of Human Secularism, in my opinion, has been “Truth Relativism”.  Truth relativism is the reluctance to acknowledge that anything is either “right or wrong”.  According to Truth relativism—morality depends on the individual situation.  This is in direct opposition to Judeo-Christian teaching which clearly indicates that there are many things that are deemed always right and always wrong.  For instance, the Bible tells us that lying is always wrong.  It’s one of the 10 commandments.  Thou Shalt NOT is pretty clear—no “shades of grey” there.  Now…I can almost hear the coming refutation from people today.  The usual examples of truth relativism go something like this:

Well...if you were hiding Jews in your attic and the Nazis knocked on your door would you LIE?

To be completely honest (pardon the intentional pun), a short while ago I probably would have said “Yes—go ahead and lie to the rotten Nazis”.  However, the root problem is that when we are LYING we are not RELYING on God.  Once we remove God from the equation, then Truth becomes problematic. God IS Truth.

For the example given above, let’s look at the other options instead of lying:
a)      pray for divine protection (numerous examples of this in the Bible)
b)      offer no response (Jesus was silent before his accusers)
c)      give a non-answer such as “Is there a problem officer”?  Jesus, when asked if he was King of the Jews, simply answered—“It is as you say”.
d)      all of the above

You see, LYING says “I am in control of the situation”.   Trusting in God to handle the situation is WAYYYYYYY more effective.

There is a story, interestingly enough from Nazi Germany, about just such an issue.  A young man was on a train out of the country while attempting to assist others in escaping from certain death in a concentration camp.  A German SS officer came up to him demanding answers.  One of the questions was:  “Why are you on this train?  By who’s authority”?  The young man answered:   “I am here on the authority of the Highest-most power”.  To which the SS Soldier simply looked frightened and walked away with no further inquiries.  I love this story.  It encourages me to be obedient when I am tempted to take the lazy, lying, non-truth way out.

So now we come to the truth about abortion.  In the U.S. we have been believing and supporting a BIG LIE.  Abortion is murder—plain and simple.  Yet many Christians defend abortion in certain situations as dupes of Truth Relativism.  What if the mother’s life is in danger?  How about rape and incest?  What if the child is deformed in some manner?  We so often hear the phrase “slippery slope”.  Well in just one short generation, Americans have “slipped” from abortions performed only in the most dire of circumstances to sanctioning partial birth abortions, “designer-baby” sex-selection abortions and 90% of all Down’s Syndrome babies being aborted.  We are morally no different than the Nazi’s who began “cleansing” their society of supposed deformities and ended up killing people because they had a harelip.  Clueless Christians have been complicit in “greasing” this slide by buying into the Truth Relativism arguments.

Oh—I know…I’m going to get the usual liberal arguments about supposedly hypocritical conservatives causing death by war and capital punishment.  However, these points of view actually BOLSTER this argument.  The Bible clearly indicates the difference between innocent life and non-innocent life.  Today we have it exactly BACKWARDS.  We blithely kill the innocent and protest in the streets to protect the guilty.  Once again…there is no Biblical foundation whatsoever in these positions.  Just what mankind thinks is right or wrong and we know from history how well that turns out.

There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.
~Proverbs 14:12

In American law, “ignorance of the law” is no defense.  Today, we are ignorant of God’s laws and, trust me, there is NO defense.  When we, as Americans, liberally donate money to “Save the Whales”, prohibit clubbing of baby seals, support PETA and Animal Shelters, etc.--WE HAVE NO DEFENSE whatsoever before God when it comes to sanctioning the murder of innocents on the altar of convenience.  Furthermore, God not only plainly tells us this is wrong, he even did us the favor of laying out the punishment for breaking this law and it is not pleasant:

Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man.
~Genesis 9:6

Do not pollute the land where you are.  Bloodshed pollutes the land, and atonement cannot be made for the land on which blood has been shed, except by the blood of the one who shed it.”
~Numbers 35:33

Son of man, will you judge her?  Will you judge this city of bloodshed?  Then confront her with all her detestable practices…O city that brings on herself doom by shedding blood in her midst…You have become guilty because of the blood you have shed…You have brought your days to a close, and the end of your years has come.
~Ezekiel 22:2-4

Even our American history, just a short 150 years ago, offers up a clear example of the penalty exacted for the persecution of innocents through slavery.  The Civil War slavery penalty on the nation was harsh.  Historians estimate around 600,000 Americans were slain in the Civil War.  Interestingly, ship manifolds suggest that approximately 600,000 slaves were shipped into the U.S. in the ugly slave trade industry (see chart below from Wikipedia):

.

Evidently, God demands one for one.  Such is the importance of human life in His eyes.

"If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her…then thou shalt give life for life,"
~Exodus 21:22-23

Even President Abraham Lincoln, a very Godly, praying man, suggested this penalty was exactly true:
“Yet, if God wills that it continue until…every drop of blood drawn with the lash shall be paid by another drawn with the sword.”

Once you acknowledge that every life has EQUAL worth—or, in other words, shine the light of TRUTH on these questions—there is only ONE correct answer.  Of course, you should not murder another person simply because it may be convenient for someone else.  The thinking only gets “muddy” or “grey” when God’s perfect truth is out of the equation and we trust our own faulty reasoning.  Eventually, as in the United States today, we end down a horribly ugly and evil pathway.  Then, everything is “relative”—even murder.

So what will America’s penalty be for the murder of SIXTY MILLION innocent children?

I don’t know, but like the Civil War…it’s probably all relative.

I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that his justice cannot sleep forever.

Forward. March.

Lately there has been a rash of crackpot shootings by a handful of insane people wielding weapons.  Two most notable are the Aurora movie shooter and the Sikh Temple assault.  Whenever there is innocent loss of life, especially random murders for the sake of sheer homicidal gratification, it is a cause for serious concern.  However, the backlash for these atrocities seems to be a renewed attack on our Constitutional rights—most specifically our right to bear arms in the Second Amendment.  I guess it almost seems logical to step up gun restrictions in light of these recent acts of carnage.  But before we “throw out the baby with the bath water”, let’s review history.  Just like the old saying:  “those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it”—let’s go to the history books.  Today, with the Internet information readily available to almost everyone, let’s research the #1 offender on the mass murder “Hit Parade” shall we?

Ready?...  Let’s play “Jeopardy!” (good analogy here).

Question:  What is “GOVERNMENT” for $800 dollars Alex?
Answer:  The #1 cause of mass murders in all of recorded history.

Question:  What is “SOCIALIST, MARXIST OR COMMUNIST GOVERNMENT” for $1000 Dollars Alex?
Answer:  The #1 type of government responsible for the worst mass murders in all of recorded history.

By now you’ve probably heard the brouhaha over Obama’s “Forward” campaign slogan.  Yes, it is dubious in light of the fact that the word “Forward” has been used in numerous Socialist, Marxist and Communist regime propaganda.  Here’s just a few:

Vorwarts! (Forward in German from Nazis—also known as Germany’s National SOCIALISTS party
Vpered! (Soviet word for Forward)

Forward to victory! (Lenin)

Great Warriors Forward to the West! (Russian WWII poster)
Let’s march forward under the banner of Mao Zedong! (Propaganda in the People’s Republic of China)

Mao’s great leap forward! (1958 Communist China slogan)

Under the banner of Lenin and the Leadership of Stalin-Forward!

Under Lenin’s banner let’s go forward for the Motherland, our victory!

Non-party members and Communists march forward to our best future!

Forward for Stalin (the name of Stalin’s newspaper)

“Super Great Leap Forward”—Pol Pot (Cambodian Khmer Rouge Leader)

Obama’s defenders will say that “Forward” is a common word used in many places, not just Communist or Marxist campaigns.  However, why choose this questionable word at all?  There are only two logical conclusions to draw:

1) the Obama campaign advisers are extremely ignorant (hard to believe no one was consulted or researched the use of this slogan) or

2) they actually want to make a sly correlation between their campaign and Socialist/Communist philosophies.

Either way: it’s disturbing and something the American voting public should sit up and take serious note of.  Even more disconcerting, perhaps the use of this word just flows naturally from the evil lodged in their hearts and even they don’t recognize its horrible significance.

Here’s the result of previous “Forward-thinking” rulers:

Germany’s National Socialists (Nazis):

21 MILLION PEOPLE KILLED

Mao Zedong’s People’s Republic of China:

65 MILLION PEOPLE KILLED

Pol Pot (Khmer Rouge Leader of Cambodia):

3 MILLION PEOPLE KILLED

USSR stands for Union of Soviet Socialist Republics :

100 MILLION PEOPLE KILLED

Our Founding Fathers enshrined specific rights into our Constitution for very good reasons.  They knew that abridging any of these rights eventually results in tyrannical governmental abuse.  The Second Amendment gun rights debate is just one of many American rights that are being challenged under this current Socialist-leaning administration.

So, the next time you think a little socialism is all about being compassionate and caring for your fellow man—think about history and speculate what our American future might look like:

United “Socialist” States:

How many MILLIONS KILLED?

I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.
~Matthew 10:16

Tell Me Sweet Little Lies

Back in the 1980’s there was a popular Fleetwood Mac song with these lyrics:

Tell me lies
Tell me sweet little lies
Oh, no, no you can't disguise
Tell me lies
Tell me sweet little lies

Like the song implies, it seems today that Truth is not very popular.  In fact, I’m going to go so far as to say that lying has reached epidemic proportions in our culture and has garnered broad based acceptance as the norm.  Sadly we no longer EXPECT our politicians to tell us the truth.  There is a whole news program dedicated to “No Spin” which has enjoyed the #1 slot for over a decade by viewers hoping to find some truth.  Another news outlet claims “The Truth Lives Here”.  Let’s hope so.  Apparently, we at least recognize that we are being lied to.  Unfortunately, many Americans simply accept that most reporting and politics is biased and merely shrug their shoulders.  No journalistic professionalism or integrity required…Please apply here.  Just be sure to tickle our ears and keep sending our entitlement checks.

Abraham Lincoln is quoted as saying:
“You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time”
.
I'm sure President Lincoln wasn’t advocating lying.  However, he was making an important observation.  Most people will eventually realize when they are fed lies as a consistent diet.  Let’s just hope it is not too late.

Our current President is especially adept at “prevaricating”.  (Sounds so much nicer than “Lying” doesn’t it?)  His two autobiographical books “Dreams from My Father” and “The Audacity of Hope” have been found to be riddled with falsehoods and misrepresentations.  Now that we have had the opportunity to research these two literary works of “autobiographical fiction”, Americans should be highly concerned that the untruthful author currently occupies the highest office in our land.

However, we in America are no longer fond of the word “lying”.  It’s too “intolerant”.  Today, things are “50 Shades of Grey”.  Obama and his defenders use terms like “literary license”, “composite characters”, and “evolving”, to explain apparent inconsistencies in both his writings and his political views.

Here’s the problem with lying (let’s just call it what it is, shall we?) from a foundational Biblical perspective.  Holy Scripture says SATAN is the “Father of Lies”:

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
~John 8:44

Currently, there is another best-selling book at the top of the NY Times Bestsellers list entitled “The Communist”.  The author lays out a very convincing case that President Obama was mentored by an older Communist radical in his youth.  There are also speculations that this man may have actually been his real biological father.  Whether that is truthful or not has yet to be decisively determined.  One thing is for sure—President Obama has a radical “dream” for the remaking of the United States that he claims originated from his heritage.  This “hope and change” is only obscurely articulated in his books and is rife with Marxist, Communist and atheistic roots.

With all the confirmed multiple lies in his writings, this leaves us wondering…

Exactly which “Father” is Obama referring to in his title?

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
~1 John 1:8

The "Gift" That Keeps on Giving

I’ve never been a fan of those “Fruit of the Month” clubs.  You know…the type of gift you send to your mother-in-law because you never know what to buy for her birthday.  They start out really well intentioned—perhaps offering a nice varietal selection of apples from all different regions.  MacIntosh, Granny Smith, Red Delicious and so on—yummy!  But by the 12th month, it has run its course on the more traditional fruit and your mother-in-law ends up with kumquats coming out of her ears.  Needless to say, she is not pleased with you.

This got me thinking about two amazing historical stories of “Unexpected Consequences”.

The first story is regarding Madalyn O’Hair.  Most people readily recognize this name as the woman largely responsible for removing the Bible and prayer out of the America public school system.  However, like me, you probably didn’t know much about her personal life.

It seems that young Madalyn had an affair with a married Catholic man.  Apparently, she fell in love, got pregnant and wanted him to leave his wife.  He refused to do so because of his Catholic Faith. One wonders why he didn’t consider his Catholic Faith to help prevent him from getting involved in an extramarital affair in the first place.  But anyway, let’s just take for granted he somehow succumbed to temptation or “sin” –a concept which is not very popular anymore.

When I first read this story, I was immediately struck with an understanding of what circumstances probably created an individual like Madalyn O’Hair.  Is it really any wonder that this woman later on in life demonstrated such a hatred for Bible principles that she doggedly pursued, with deep antipathy, removing scripture and prayer from the public sector?  Do I need to remind you of the saying “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned”?

So, it’s conceivable that ONE man’s abandonment of God’s law—Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery—was quite possibly the instigating factor in defining an issue that 50 years later has arguably left our public school system, and perhaps morality in our entire country, in shambles.
(See previous Blog dated July 15th: “Happy?” Anniversary America)

This landmark case may also be alleged to be the definitive start of America’s slow death march towards Human Secularism as the new law of the land.

Amazing story right?  Truly “Unexpected Consequences”—Just sayin’.

C’mon—you may argue.  Seriously, isn’t that a bit of a stretch?
OK...if you think that’s far-fetched, how about one sin that caused 97 million deaths?

 Are you kiddin’ me?

It has been called “The Shot Heard ‘Round the World”.  One single man’s sin (giving in to the sin of pride/wrath/murder), literally was the catalyst for TWO WORLD WARS!  On June 28th, 1914, a formerly unknown 19-year old named Gavrilo Princip assassinated Archduke Ferdinand of Austria along with his wife Duchess Sophie.  It is believed that he committed this assassination in order to impress his radical friends that despite his small stature, he was a man to be reckoned with.  So, filled with misguided youth, pride and hate, he set out to prove himself.  Called “The Shot Heard ‘Round the World”, historians agree that this assassination eventually led to a series of events that directly fomented World War I.  A total of 37 million civilian and military casualties resulted from World War I.   After World War I, Germany was subjected to the stipulations in “The Treaty of Versailles”.  It was resented by the German people as overly punitive in laying “war guilt” on their nation. This ultimately let to the success of the Nazi regime under Adolf Hitler and World War II.  World War II was the deadliest military conflict in all of recorded history with over 60 million civilian and military deaths. All in all, the total death count from these two massive wars was NINETY-SEVEN MILLION MEN, WOMEN and CHILDREN!

All this from the sin of one insignificant, unknown person—I bet not one of us would correctly name this guy on a history exam.

How’s that for “Unexpected Consequences”?

So, what am I trying to say here?  Today, it’s fashionable to be lackadaisical about our Judeo-Christian foundation.  America has strangely adopted some weird dichotomous national “split personality” on morality.  It goes something like this:

Well, I personally don’t believe in _____________ (fill in the blank with some immoral social issue or choice), but I believe in the freedom to allow everyone to do what they want. I will also support laws that encourage and allow people to make these immoral choices.

So human secularism starts out, like the Fruit of the Month club, with very good intentions.  Words like “tolerance” and “choice” and “fairness” sound so initially pleasing—so humanly reasonable.  However, we have merely substituted Man’s reasoning for God’s Laws.  Even young students know that when there is a “substitute teacher” in place—everyone just uses it as an excuse to go wild.  It signals an “open season” to act up.  In society the “fruit” of such lawlessness is called ANARCHY.

Remember the old commercial for a hair gel called “BrylCreem”?  The slogan, for those of you under the age of 50 who don’t remember it, was “a little dab’ll do ya”.  So it is with sin.  Based on history, it doesn’t take much of it to set in motion a serious chain of events that has the ability to damage all of mankind.  History has shown us that not only will “a little dab do ya” but that a little dab will “do us in.

So…with the United States now approaching the 40-year anniversary of the “slaughter of innocents”, cultural redefinition of long-standing societal laws, and Governmental approbation of general lawlessness…what unexpected consequence might be coming next?  Like the Fruit of the Month Club, let’s start counting…World War I, World War II….

A little leaven corrupteth the whole lump.
~Galations 5:9

Impure Evil

While reading the news about the Colorado Theater Shootings, I came across one headline: “Pure Evil”.  I got to thinking about that phrase.  On the surface, it’s clearly an oxymoron.  There’s nothing pure about evil and nothing evil about purity.  However, juxtaposed in a word phrase, it adds extra depth to the meaning and the reader gets the author’s point.

During World War II, the Americans and the Allied Forces had a clear understanding that the Nazis were psychopathic maniacs that would stop at nothing to conquer the entire world.  They had to be stopped at all costs.  Recognizing the “purity of this evil” helped strengthen our resolve and backbone for the long, demanding war.  I think today in America, we’ve “evolved” (as President Obama would say) on the subject of evil.  Today, we actually have, for lack of a better phrase “impure evil”—or better stated, it’s such a bland shade of grey that we can scant recognize it anymore.  The problem is, if you can’t recognize it, you can’t call it out.  It is masquerading now under the guise of “compassion” or “good”.  May I put forth a hypothesis?  This is actually the worst and most sinister kind of evil.  It’s a “dishonest” evil. Not only is it still extremely destructive, but it allows the perpetrators to enjoy the added benefit of actually feeling good about themselves while they commit and encourage evil behavior. It elicits and often engages assistance from otherwise “good” but clueless people.  Thus the phrase “useful idiots” comes to mind.  One must be paying close attention to sniff it out. The best way to steer clear of it is to stick with tried and true guidelines or “moral compasses”.

I was talking to a lawyer recently about the sorry state of some clients that seek his counsel.  After pouring out their legal problems and tales of woe (messy divorces, criminal charges, injuries, legal problems, etc), they ask him why his life seems to be going so smoothly.  He simply stated, “I stay on script”.  What he meant was that he follows Biblical principles or scripture in his business and personal life.  So simple—just follow the script.

We need to apply this logic both personally and nationally.

As a Judeo-Christian nation, our “script” is the Old and New Testaments of the Bible.
As a nation, our “script” is the Constitution.  Few people read or understand either of these two extremely important foundational writings.  I encourage you to pick up your Bible and start reading it TODAY.  Also, re-read the The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution--especially The Bill of Rights (the first 10 amendments to the Constitution).

Any attempt to deviate from these two rock solid foundations will put us in jeopardy both as individuals and as a culture.

In a fascinating, and perhaps not coincidental analogy, there are 10 Amendments to the Constitution in The Bill of Rights, just as there are 10 commandments in the Bible. All ten are being brutally assailed today by the current administration in the name of “doing the right thing”.  In a recent speech, President Obama stated the phrase “it’s the right thing to do” EIGHTEEN TIMES.  Perhaps he believes if he says this enough, uneducated people will continue to be persuaded.  However, our fundamental American rights are being stripped away by governmental infringement in the name of “good” and “right”.  By who’s measure marker?  Like the frog placed in the pot of cool water, we are slowly being boiled alive.  We won’t know the pot is dangerous until it’s too late and our “goose is cooked”—literally.  Here are just a few disturbing examples:

1)      The 1st Amendment to the Constitution and the 1st of the 10 clauses listed in the Bill of Rights is commonly referred to as the “Freedom of Religion” clause.  The recent White House HHS Mandate officially forces people of religious conscience to provide life-killing abortifacients or face steep penalties.  To people of faith, this is no different than requiring, like the Nazis, that we place other people in the oven.  The penalties in the ObamaTax Health Care plan are so extensive, that there is still no clear consensus on just how much these punitive damages will ultimately be.  Some early estimates claim they can be as high as $100 PER DAY, PER EMPLOYEE.  That’s $36,500 for each employee, sure to break the backs of every religious organization or business in the country.  Still want to claim this is not a threat to religious freedom?  Seriously?
2)      The 2nd Amendment to the Constitution is the “Right to Bear Arms”.  With the recent Colorado shootings, it sounds completely “reasonable” and “right” to limit this freedom.  This fundamental American right is about to be decimated by the UN ATT Treaty in the name of the “good” which is supposedly public safety.  Don’t you find it ironic that the first thing we do when we are in serious physically threatening danger is call 911?  We instinctively call someone with a gun to protect us.  What happens if the people with the guns are those oppressing us?  Pick up a history book and read any chapter since the recorded dawn of mankind.  Then come back and tell me how this will never happen here—you’re fooling yourself.  Unfortunately, history has shown us that the first way to tyrannize and oppress people is to disarm them.  One of Hitler’s earliest menacing acts was to remove guns from the Jewish populace.  However horrible and repulsive the massacre in Colorado was, it is still not a justification to give tyrannical control to any government.  If someone is bent on doing evil, they will do it with whatever means they get their hands on: a plane, a car, gasoline, etc. Banning guns only assures that law-abiding citizens will not have them.  They will still be easily accessible on the black market, just like drugs, for all lawless people.  Crazy gunmen kill dozens but tyrannical governments kill millions.
3)      The 3rd Amendment to the Constitution bans the government’s rights to station troops in your home.  This can never happen right?  However, there are two UN treaties being considered before a Senate committee right now known as CROC and CRPD.  They are both too detailed to enumerate in this blog, but please go onto the Internet and read them in their entirety.  If put into effect, government will have control over your children (both well and disabled).  How else will they enforce TAKING CONTROL OVER YOUR CHILD unless they utilize brute force?  Do you anticipate that you will simply hand your child over when they knock on your door?  Do you think other Americans will do this with no resistance?  Thus…all means of resistance will have to be removed first (see #2).  Then, you and the rest of your family, can be herded around like sheep to the slaughter—reminiscent of the Jewish concentration camp round ups.
4)      The 4th Amendment to the Constitution bans illegal searches and seizures.  This is best described by simply showing you an actual news article by USA Today:

 ~By Leslie Cauley, USA TODAY
The National Security Agency has been secretly collecting the phone call records of tens of millions of Americans, using data provided by AT&T, Verizon and BellSouth, people with direct knowledge of the arrangement told USA TODAY.
The NSA program reaches into homes and businesses across the nation by amassing information about the calls of ordinary Americans — most of whom aren't suspected of any crime. This program does not involve the NSA listening to or recording conversations. But the spy agency is using the data to analyze calling patterns in an effort to detect terrorist activity, sources said in separate interviews.

Folks, this is more like the USSR before the collapse of The “Evil Empire” than of a free republic.  How are we standing for this?  Oh…I know.  We had one terrorist attack and let the government step in to “protect us”.  Unfortunately, these “protections” in the hands of a new administration, will more likely be our undoing.  Basically, we gave the hen-house key to the fox.

5)      The 5th Amendment to the Constitution, has many components but one of them is the Government’s Right of Eminent Domain.  Quickly stated, the government has the right, in only very special cases, to purchase privately owned property for the general public good.  If your property happens to fall in the perfect place for the new super highway, the government can step in, evaluate the worth of your property and buy you out.  Sounds good right?  This is very necessary at various times.  No real objection here except now, under the current administration, it is on the verge of being abused.  Two of the most liberal and “progressive” locations in the country, Chicago and California, are attempting to exercise the right of Eminent Domain to take over properties from banks that have been foreclosed.  This was never the concept our founding fathers had for Eminent Domain.  The government is not supposed to swoop down like a hawk and take off with the juiciest real estate it can get it hands on in some sort of twisted version of “the public good”.  They are not Robin Hood.  Let’s call this what it really is—plain old ugly government seizure of private properties.  Yes…we can find loads of examples of this in history.  Especially in Communist, Marxist takeovers.  This is about as UN-AMERICAN as it gets PEOPLE!  This is no different then the Communists promising to take from the haves and give to the have nots in some utopian socialistic society.  We have history books to check out how BADLY these ideologies have panned out in the past.  This is exactly why our Founding Fathers would be turning over in their graves right now over this one.  It is VERY reminiscent of the rights of KINGS in a monarchy instead of a republic—the very thing we fought and died to relieve us of in 1776!
6)      In the 6th Amendment to the Constitution, Americans have a right to a Trial by Jury.  It doesn’t matter how horrific the crime was—this is one of our American Rights.  Recently, President Obama, with one of his infamous Drone strikes, just blew away Americans who happened to be near other Islamic Terrorists.  While obviously, I am no fan of people who associate with Islamic Terrorists, I still am very concerned with the PRECEDENT that was set here.  Basically, if the President believes you or a family member proposes a threat to the National Security, they can blow you away at whim.  No trial, no jury, just one of Obama’s Famous Executive Orders, or should I say “Execution Orders’.  Doesn’t affect you right now you say?  Just add a pinch of social unrest, another terrorist attack maybe, and you may find yourself on a list of “undesirables”.  Now we don’t have to waste all that money getting you a proper trial to hear all the circumstances.  Obama just keeps a list in his top desk drawer of who he needs to exterminate.  Sounds very Democratic and American, don’t you think?

Well, in the interest of time, I will just give you these examples.  There are MANY more disturbing developments in the news.  These examples are all READILY AVAILABLE in the press and Internet for you to research.  DO YOU BOTHER TO TAKE THE TIME?—or is your head still stuck in FaceBook?

My prayer is that America is still able to differentiate between choosing the “true good” over the “impure evil”.  Otherwise, like the horrified movie goers in Colorado, we may suddenly find ourselves to be sitting ducks at the mercy of a madman.

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
~2 Timothy 3:16

“Human rights can only be assured among a virtuous people. The general government . . . can never be in danger of degenerating into a monarchy, an oligarchy, an aristocracy, or any despotic or oppressive form so long as there is any virtue in the body of the people."~George Washington
